The Value in Curamericas
Posted: February 20, 2019

The longevity Curamericas has experienced is unprecedented in both nonprofit and small business industries. We are in our 36th year of operation, which far surpasses the predicted six to fifteen-year lifespan of a nonprofit, and the 50% failure rate for small businesses within the first five years.

Curamericas credits this success in longevity to numerous factors such as our proven methodology for sustainable health care service provision, but we believe the number one factor contributing to the success of Curamericas is our long-term support and low turnover rates amongst all levels of the organization.

Due to the rarity of success such as Curamericas has found, we felt it important to highlight the people that support Curamericas, and the value they provide to the organization.

Staff and Board of Directors

Our staff is what allows us to achieve the day-to-day work of Curamericas. They are the people that give our vision wings. Working together with our board of directors, staff members see to the efficient implementation of directives set by the board. The relationship between staff and board members is crucial to the success of a nonprofit. Through an amazing relationship built upon trust and transparency, our board and staff are able to effectively advance the mission of Curamericas.

In addition to the overall advancement of Curamericas’ mission, our board members provide influential connections, professional advice, and financial support on a consistent basis. A key condition of sustainability and longevity for a nonprofit is strong strategic leadership, and because this type of leadership is present in our organization, Curamericas is able to achieve real impact and relevance.

Curamericas places high value on donors that goes beyond financial support as we strive to make personal connections with every one of our donors, and tap into donor connections to further engage with the surrounding community. We are continually grateful for the people that believe in Curamericas’ vision, and subsequently give towards the advancement and fulfillment of that vision.

Volunteers

Our volunteers are the hands and feet of what we do. Without them, our mission could not be achieved. Therefore, we place high value on volunteers and provide numerous opportunities to volunteer from international volunteer trips to domestic internships.

“Curamericas is helping me to focus my career goals and shape my interests in Public Health. I believe this internship will give me better insight into what I really want to do.” – Brittany Ballard, Domestic Intern 2019

Partners

Curamericas values the importance of working hand-in-hand with our partners in countries such as Guatemala, Bolivia, and Kenya. We place a high value on sustainability in every project and country that we work in, and achieve this through our community based, impact oriented methodology and community partnerships. Locally, Curamericas has recently partnered with the Raleigh Guatemalan Consulate to develop a program seeking to improve the health of Guatemalan immigrants in the Carolinas. Through these partnerships, we are able to implement our vision of a world free of suffering from treatable and preventable causes.
