Apex High School joins in think-act global and collects medical supply for Curamericas Global

Apex High School recently held a medical supply drive that collected over $2,000 worth of supplies for Curamericas Global. Naturally, we would like to send a giant thank you to students at Apex High School!

Audrey Sung, a member of the Apex High National Honor Society, found us through Hands On Triangle, a program that helps connect volunteers with nonprofits who need them.

The NHS held their drive March 5-13, 2015, and the results shocked us all. Despite this being their very first medical supply drive, they managed to collect $2,381 worth of supplies. The drive was enough to seriously start crowding the classroom they were using to store the donations in.As such, the club focused on gathering some of our most needed supplies. Items included small and medium-sized latex gloves, gently used infant clothing, and children’s multivitamins. Their final collection included 158 bottles of multivitamins, 19 items of infant clothing, and 101 boxes of medical gloves.

Impact of think and act global.

These medical supplies will be brought with us on volunteer trips to our clinics in Guatemala, Liberia, and Kenya. Our clinics serve remote, resource-poor communities. This means that it can be very difficult and expensive for them to get medical supplies that many of us in developed countries take for granted. As a small nonprofit, we often rely on the generosity of volunteers and supporters like this.
