ICYMI: Mom-A-Thon is here!

We’re preparing for our best Mom-A-Thon ever—but we need your help!

As the world responds to COVID-19 and the devastating impacts it has on so many, life goes on and our work does not stop – education and prevention are still vital, mothers are still giving birth and children continue to need vaccines. We remain allies and advocates for our global project sites as they work to improve access to life-saving care for moms and babies – as well as communities in our own backyard.

Because of Mom-A-Thon support in 2019, we were able to:

• Provide comprehensive maternal and child healthcare education and services to more than 800 women in Kenya
• Open an additional Casa Materna birthing center, serving an additional 10,000 people
• Train more than 2,200 Community Health Workers in four countries
• Expand to 123 communities, reaching more than 40,000 people

We’d like to give a very special shout-out to our friends at William G. Enloe Magnet High School for being so dedicated to supporting our Mom-A-Thon fundraiser this year! Thanks to their work, we’ll be able to support hundreds of moms and babies this year.

Thousands of Spanish-Speaking Families Supported During COVID-19

Since the start of the pandemic, Curamericas Global and the Guatemalan Consulate in Raleigh have partnered together on a community phone campaign. The campaign is designed to reach 15,000 Hispanic families across the Carolinas in Spanish. The mission is to provide education, connect families to vital resources and serve as an ally for this often forgotten community. To date, more than 400 volunteers have donated their time, helping us reach more than 10,000 families. Here is one story from volunteer, Nicolas Hernandez, about how one call made a difference in one mother’s life.
