Grateful for Our Mothers

If you were asked to share what your mother has taught you, you would probably find that it is nearly impossible to choose just one thing. Mothers are a source of life, guidance, safety, and strength; they have helped build our world as we know it today.

Mother’s Lives Matter

Unfortunately, many mothers around the world lack access to the health care and medical supplies they need. Around 50% of pregnant women give birth without the help of a skilled birth attendant, many on the dirt floor of their own homes. Every year, we lose 287,000 mothers to easily preventable causes related to pregnancy and child birth. This reality leaves over 1 million children motherless and vulnerable.

Every year there are 287,000 fewer mothers to take care of their families, encourage their children to go to school, and make sure their children grow up healthy and strong. For many families, both locally and internationally, mothers are the foundation their livelihood. Their absence affects the entire community and contributes to a continued cycle of poverty.
