Hops for Hope was a Huge Success!
Posted: December 10, 2015

On Tuesday, December 1st, Curamericas Global held its 2nd Annual Hops for Hope event. Thanks to many generous sponsors, donors, and attendees, the event was a huge success.

Together we raised $7,382 to support health programs for mothers and children in impoverished communities around the world, nearly doubling the donations from the event last year! Check out professional photos from the event, graciously donated by Galizes photos.

The event was held at the beautiful Person Street Bar which offered a fun, laid-back, and cozy atmosphere along with plenty of room for the band, raffle, food, and over 70 guests. Not to mention that the service was great—thanks, Jeff and the bartenders! Before the band started, the silent art auction began, featuring the very talented Kirsten Savage and photos of the mothers and children that Curamericas serves.

The band, 40 Love, drew in a new crowd of supporters, who love music and helping others. 40 Love’s mission is to have fun playing music while supporting charitable causes. They went above and beyond playing classics, top 40, and everything in between!

After a few hours of eating, listening to music, and mingling, we had the honor of learning more about the work of Curamericas from someone who carries out our mission every day, Patrick Mantor, the Director of Ganta Hospital in Nimba County Liberia. Patrick spoke about the impact he has seen firsthand in Liberia as a result of Curamericas’ program. He also explained how important community-based primary healthcare is and the applauded the work that Curamericas Global supports at Ganta Hospital and around the world. He thanked everyone for their support, and charged us all to help however we can. “Just because we are far away,” he said, “doesn’t mean that we can’t all make a difference.”

From the staff, board members, and volunteers at Curamericas, thank you to everyone who came and supported this event. We are so fortunate to not only be able to support Curamericas on #GivingTuesday, but also to see the support we have from the community, (including our sponsors, Thomas, Judy, & Tucker PA; Buie, Norman, & Company; and Allegra Print Marketing Signs).

From raffle prize donors, to friends and family who attended, to Person Street Bar and 40 Love, we are so appreciative of your generosity. We can’t wait to see how Hops for Hope will continue to grow in the future!
