THANK YOU for donating to our Haiti Earthquake Relief Campaign. Our donors raised more than $12,000 to support earthquake victims in Haiti. Curamericas Global is currently developing a plan to continue providing support to victims of this tragedy. Again, THANK YOU for the outpour of support and compassion.
Haiti has the highest HIV-infection rates
in the Western Hemisphere.
Curamericas is partnering with a local organization in an effort to
lower the HIV incidence in three regions of the country.
Curamericas Global, Inc. has been awarded $2.2 million through the third round of the New Partners Initiative (NPI) of the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) for a three-year project which began in February 2009. Curamericas is partnering with the indigenous Haitian non-governmental organization Management and Resources for Community Health (MARCH) to implement an innovative project to provide managed care preventive HIV services for 100,000 women in the Delmas, Les Cayes, and rural Beaumont/Corail/Pestel regions of Haiti. The project will aggressively and creatively address serious HIV prevention service gaps with a community-based approach applied to a managed care system, in an effort to lower the HIV incidence in this country with the highest HIV-infection rates in the Western Hemisphere.
Special attention is given to expectant mothers in order to avoid transmission of the virus to their unborn children. Edutainment, an engaging and informative way of communicating, is a centerpiece in our community outreach efforts. Project beneficiaries are enrolled in a Managed Care Program, an innovative approach to HIV prevention that allows us to track beneficiaries and provide the support to avoid this dreadful ailment.
