Nearly 4 million children will not see their fifth birthdays, due to preventable and treatable illnesses like pneumonia and dysentery.  We all know that good health directly affects education, income and family and community well-being.  So we at Curamericas work hard to bring about sustainable changes to the healthcare system in the communities we partner with.  It’s the only way to celebrate more 6thbirthdays!

History

Curamericas Global, Inc., formerly Andean Rural Health Care, was founded in 1983 by Duke University and Johns Hopkins graduate Henry Perry III, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H and Alice Weldon, Ph.D. Curamericas Global was created with the goal of establishing primary health care programs that are responsive to the health needs of the community, improving child survival within the community, and building the national and local capacity of health service providers.

Curamericas Global, Inc. works with four guiding principles:

  • We measure the effectiveness of our work
  • Health care services are equitable in access and usage
  • Our programs are community-based, and promote community empowerment
  • Health benefits are eventually sustainable locally.
